Detailed Agenda (Start: 9:00 AM)

☀️ Morning: Open the Year

8:30–9:15: Opening Ritual

Purpose: Transition out of normal life. Look back at 2025. No note-taking yet! Just emotionally calibrating.

Location: Walk to Hank’s

  • Walk together (no phones)
  • Coffee

Prompts

  • What did we love about this year?
  • What was hard about this year?
  • What felt good? What felt heavy?

9:15–9:45: Agree on Life Buckets

Purpose: Define what “counts” this year. Agree on what buckets we want to prioritize and set goals around.

Location: Hank’s

Outcome: Selected buckets to create goals for and plan around later.

Starting Buckets:

  • Finances
  • Travel
  • Family
  • House
  • Health & Energy
  • Our Marriage
  • Individual Growth
  • Fun & Play

9:45–10:15: Walk Home

Purpose: Mental transition

Let the categories settle before touching the calendar.

10:15–11:00: Setting the Stage: Calendar Skeleton

Purpose: Create safety and realism. Draw the lines of the playing field before the game starts.

Anything can be removed later. We’re trying to answer: “Do we actually have room for the life we want?”

Categories:

  • Birthdays
  • Anniversaries
  • Known trips
  • Weddings
  • Work immovables
  • Family events

11:00-11:15 Mini-Break

Purpose: Play with Sprig!

🌤 Midday: Dream First

11:15–12:15: Vision Pass (No Constraints)

Purpose: Name what “amazing” looks like. If this area felt amazing at the end of 2026, what would that look like?

Exercise: Go through each bucket and identify the goals, outcomes or feelings we’d like to associate with each of them by the end of the year.

Important rule: Write phrases, feelings, outcomes (not tasks or to-dos).

12:15–1:45: Lunch Break

Location: Veracruz Fonda

Purpose: Reset and rest

  • No planning talk
  • Horchata for Megan
  • Let ideas marinate

🌅 Afternoon: Alignment & Commitment

1:45–2:45: Personal Goals & Mutual Support

Purpose: Surface where support, sacrifice, or patience may be required

Structure this intentionally and gently.

Individual Reflection (10 min each)

Each person answers:

  • What is one personal goal that matters deeply to me this year?
  • What will this require from me?
  • Where might this impact you?

Shared Discussion Prompts

  • Where will one of us need extra slack this year?
  • What support would feel meaningful—not performative?
  • Is there anything we should pause or deprioritize to make space for this?
  • What does “being on the same team” look like here?

Outcome:

Mutual understanding, not negotiation.

This block prevents quiet resentment later.

2:45-3:00 Mini-Break

Purpose: Play with Sprig!

3:00–4:00: Constraint Pass

Purpose: Choose deliberately

For each category:

  • 1–3 priorities
  • Explicit not-this-year items

Key question:

“If only one thing went well here, what should it be?”

This is where the year becomes humane.

4:00-4:10 Mini-Break

Purpose: Play with Sprig!

4:10–5:00: Calendar Commitments

Purpose: Anchor vision in time

Add only what serves the vision:

  • Major trips
  • Project windows
  • Financial checkpoints (quarterly reviews)
  • Relationship rituals (weekends away, traditions)
  • Health anchors

Rule: White space is success, not failure.

🌙 Evening: Meaning & Closure

5:00–5:30: Synthesis Moment

Purpose: Emotional closure before celebration. Hang up Big A## Calendar

Prompts:

  • “What am I most excited about for us this year?”
  • “What do I feel grateful for about how we planned together?”
  • “What feels lighter now that it’s named?”

Write somewhere on the calendar:

“2026 is the year we ______.”

7:00: Celebration Dinner 🍷

Location: VanHorn’s

Purpose: Celebrate our first Lostak Symposium and how great 2026 will be!
